Hi, I’m Em, a vegan nutritionist who loves food. Eating food, looking at food, thinking about food, reading about food…..you get the picture. There is only one type of food I’m not so keen on: the two dinner options I have to place on the table at 1830 every evening. TWO options! At least! Every single day!

And the reason I continue to do so, day in, day out? Let me introduce the other members of my household: my husband, the lapsed pescatarian (we’ll call him Pesky Dad) who feels a meal doesn’t count without animal protein; my vegetarian teenage daughter (TofuTantrum), who loves anything made from beans and pulses; and my reception age son, who will eat anything as long as it is cheese, or broccoli, or pizza (TotallyNeverTuna).

Because I love them and want to make sure they are all eating in a nutritious way that will support and maintain healthy lifestyles. And because I want to take care of my health too! The recipes I am sharing with you on this site will hopefully help you to reply to the nightly “What’s for dinner” wail with aplomb – whether you are cooking for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, omnivores, or everyone and anyone inbetween. Whether its a quick 20 minute dish to dash out on the night when everyone seems to have a different club or activity, or something to linger a little longer over on a weekend, check out the recipe section for ideas.

Of course, with an background in nutrition I kind of feel honour bound to include a science bit too. Check out the nutrition facts and thoughts section to find out about the latest research in the field, or just to learn some basic info about your favourite foods.

And finally, there’s the fun. Life can’t all be serious – it can’t all be planning food, or work, or school. It can’t all be dashing from one activity to another. Sometimes, often, we need to spend time together. Maybe it’s just a bowl of popcorn and a family film. Maybe it’s lunch out. Now and again it’s a special occasion. Sometimes it’s a holiday. I’d like to share some of that with you too – along with my tips on how to survive it! We may be having fun, but I’m still having to parent!

Take a look around the site – I hope you find something interesting and something useful to you. And please, get in touch! I love to hear from readers, whether you just want to say hi, or have a query or a suggestion.

Thanks for reading,

Love Em x
